About the author

Keith McCabe

Keith McCabe is an American author whose works span a variety of genres from supernatural mystery, historical fiction, and suspense thrillers. He released his first four novels in three years beginning with Jersey Graves in December of 2019. Jersey Gothic, the second book in the Deb Dawson series, is his latest novel.

His passion for storytelling started at a young age with books such as Scary Stories and Goosebumps, as well as a deluge of ‘70s and ‘80s horror and slasher films. Although he’s written since high school, it wasn’t until he met a Houston attorney named Larry D. Thompson that Keith finally pursued writing seriously. Thompson had written several mystery novels and published them independently, and Thompson’s advice gave Keith the encouragement to follow in Thompson’s footsteps.

Some of his favorite authors include Peter Straub, Joyce Carol Oates, Mark Z. Danielewski, James Jones, and Shirley Jackson to name a few. Keith often intermingles research with fiction, inspired by authors such as Patricia Cornwell and Norman Mailer. He decided from early on he didn’t want to be a “series author,” so he focused on building a diverse body of work with new and interesting characters throughout a range of genres.

Keith was born in 1982 in Michigan and raised in Texas. He graduated from Spring Woods High School in 2000, then went on to attend the Court Reporting Institute of Houston where he became a Certified Shorthand Reporter in 2011. He lives in Texas where he works as a court reporter.
